It’s Free Pattern Friday! This has been quite the busy week, am I the only one that’s glad it’s over? Today’s free pattern is a small one, but quite adorable .. and you can embellish your afghans, hats, clothing, etc.. with this little cutie.
MEASUREMENTS
4″ tall (you can make it bigger by increasing your hook size)
MATERIALS
Size FCrochet Hook
Cotton Yarn (I used Sugar n’ Cream brand yarn)
Stitch Marker (or safety pin)
Yarn Needle
ABBREVIATIONS
ch – chain
dc – double crochet
sc – single crochet
sl st – Slip Stitch
st – stitch
tc – triple crochet
INSTRUCTIONS
You will place the stitch marker (or safety pin) on the first stitch in every round
Owl
Rd1: 6sc in a magic ring
Rd2; 2sc in each st around (12)
Rd3: (1sc in next st, 2sc in next st) around (18)
Rd4: (1sc in next 2 sts, 2sc in next st) around (24)
Rd5: (1sc in next 3 sts, 2sc in next sc) around (30)
Rd6: sc in next 22 sts. (hdc, dc, tc) in next st. (dc, hdc) in next st. sc in next 4 sts. (hdc, dc) in next st. (tc, dc, hdc) in next st. (36)
Rd7: sl st in next 24 sts. (hdc, dc, tc) in next st. (dc, hdc) in next st. sl st in next 6 sts. (hdc, dc) in next st. (tc, dc, hdc) in next st. sl st in next 2 sts. (42)
Finish off. Weave in ends. You can make him all in one color or alternate colors.
Eyes (make 2)
10sc in magic ring
1sc in each st around
Finish off, leaving a long tail for attaching to body
French knot into center of eyes
Feet (make 2)
ch4
r1: sc in 2nd chain from hook and in each st across. ch1 turn
r2: (sl st in 1st sc. ch3. sl st in same sc) 3 times
Finish off, leaving a long tail for weaving in
Attach all to pieces to the body as shown in picture above.
